Principal's Log - Stars Date October15th, 2024

Good day all.

We hope you had a lovely long weekend! My family and I spent the majority of ours, at our cottage and the fall colours all around are so lovely.  Autumn is such a beautiful season!  Please remember there is no school on Friday, October 25th, so one more long weekend for our Stars this month. Hopefully the weather remains kind so you all can enjoy the time to the fullest!

Last week we had a very successful Fire Drill and Evacuation practice.  Our Stars did a fantastic job on both, and we were extremely proud of how respectful our students were and how well they represented our school both on the walk to, and while inside Beautiful Savior School. Great job Stars! Our focus on safety practices continues this week, as we participate in our School Bus Evacuation drills on Thursday, October 17th.  Once that is complete, we will continue with our Fire Drills, Lockdown and Hold & Secure drills over the coming weeks.

One of our school-wide areas of focus is on anti-racist education and diversity, equity and inclusion.  We look forward to working with staff, students and community members as we work toward making Nordale a safe, inclusive and welcoming school that reflects all of our stakeholders.

Finally, I want to wish the best of luck to our students performing in the annual LRSD Choral Celebration for the United Way. It is an outstanding evening of music and our LRSD students do an absolutely fantastic job. Do it up Stars! Represent yourselves and our school to the best of your ability. We are all wishing you a great performance!!

Canteen, Universal Food Program and Fun Lunches

We are pleased to announce that our canteen is open as usual.

As well, we invited the health inspector out to assess our Canteen space and suggest ways to create an even safer food preparation area. Based on their recommendations we are looking at installing a commercial dishwasher, stainless steel counter-top and new fridge/freezer using some funds from our Universal Food Program.  Once we have those things in place we will look at again providing low-cost lunch options weekly.  Our hope is that Phase 1 of this project be completed prior to the winter break. More information to come.

Speaking of the Universal Food Program, just a reminder that we have snack options for any students that require. The snacks are a variety of grab and go types with fruit, granola bars, etc.

Finally, our next Fun Lunch is Boston Pizza on October 28th
